Engines supplied by close neighbours Precision were used at first, there being three such models in the 1912 range. Frank Bakers Precision company had no frame making facilities so it seems likely that its own-brand motorcycles were in fact built by Sun. By the end of 1912, Suns advertising was claiming that it products were built in one of the largest and best equipped works in the world for its purpose. By that time they were already producing the Sun Spider bicycle (a penny farthing) and they continued to produce bicycles alongside the production of complete motorcycles, which started in 1911/12 using Precision engines. Understandably, the 1913 range comprised 270, 499 and 597 cc Sun-Precisions. The two larger models were equipped with Sturmey Archer 3 speed hubs, or alternatively single speed machines withVilliers hub clutch could be had. Immediately after The Great War, Sun announced an all-Vitesse powered range of two-strokes, with Blackburne, JAP and Villiers-engined models being added in the early 1920s. Sun ceased motorcycle production at the end of 1933 but maintained its interests in the manufacture of high quality bicycles. Motorcycle production resumed after WW2 with an autocycle, and the firm concentrated thereafter on Villiers-powered lightweights.
